Product Description

1. Basical Information of Graphite Electrode
Using coal pitch as binder, the graphite electrode which is mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke is being made through the process of calcination, compounding, kneading, pressing, baking, impregnation, graphitization and machining. It is a conductor that release electrical energy to heat and melt the charge in the form of an electric arc in an electric arc furnace, and has the characteristics of low electrical resistivity, good electrical conductivity, low ash content, uniform structure, good oxidation resistance and high mechanical strength.

3. Application
(1) For electric arc steelmaking furnaces
Electric furnace steelmaking uses graphite electrodes to introduce current into the furnace, and uses the high-temperature heat source generated by the arc between the electrode end and the furnace material for smelting.
(2) Used for submerged arc furnaces
The submerged arc furnace is mainly used for the production of industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus. Its characteristic is that the lower part of the conductive electrode is buried in the furnace material, forming an arc in the material layer, and heating the furnace material using the heat energy emitted by the resistance of the furnace material itself
(3) For resistance furnaces
The graphitization furnace for producing graphite products, the furnace for melting glass, and the electric furnace for producing silicon carbide all belong to resistance furnaces
(4) Used for preparing irregular graphite products
The blank of graphite electrodes is also used for processing into various special-shaped graphite products such as crucibles, molds, vessels, and heating elements.

4. Packing
Graphite electrodes are packed on wooden pallets with steel strips.

5. Using Guide
Proper operation may reduce the consumption and cost.

A. Use special hoist tools to hoist graphite electrode. It is strictly forbidden to prize electrode ends up with crowbar. It must be handled with great care during transportation to avoid damage.
B. Graphite electrode must be kept away from being moistened or wetted by rain, snow and water, and must be kept dry. It must be dried in the furnace before use. The drying temperature in the furnace shall be less then 100ºC.The drying period shall be not less than 48 hours.
C. Not to be stored up near clay, slag etc.to avoid surface pollution and increasing resistivity.
D. Carefully checking before connection, make sure that the socked and nipple thread is not damaged, nipple pitch plug is in. Nipple screw shall not be damaged during lifting.
E. Blow the nipple and socket threads with compressed air.
F. Graphite electrode must be connected contacted closely and straightly.Use moment spanner for connecting electrode with suitable force. The gap between electrodes shall less than 0.4mm.
G. The holding device must hold the electrode tightly, good contact and no arc. Otherwise, the connecting area will get red and oxidized and thin, leading breakage.
H. Threaded portion of nipple socket shall not be damaged during hoisting by metal plug.Hoisting plug shall spin out and keep nipple socket clean.
I. Lifting device of electrode must move stably when moving electrode.carefully check the  position of furnace cover after being repaired. To seal the cover with refractory to prevent up electrode from being oxidized by fire.
J. For charging the furnace, the large scrap should be put at the bottom, the small one on the top, Charge material with low electric conductivity shall not been put on the top. In the course of melting, un-melted material shall be taken in time to avoid electrode breaking by falling material.
